Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration comes from nature or a beautiful photo, and from talking to people and listening to them talk about their lives. Shared stories or dreams may spark an idea for my paintings. However, going for a walk in nature is where I get most ideas from.

This past sunday I went for a short walk in my neighbourhood, and my eye caught something bright red in the middle of the street. My curiosity got me to go closer only to find out it was a tiny piece of ladies underwear. I could not imagine how it ended up in the middle of the road. A quick thought crossed my mind: who is watching me from a window somewhere, looking at a piece of underwear in the street? Do they think it belongs to me? Still wondered how it may have ended up where it did. Then I remembered there was laud music the night before, and a party going on not far from me, so there could be a connection. Anyway, I was on my way to the store to get a few things, so I did that, and on my way back I had my camera ready and snapped a photo. This was a very quick move, in case the person behind the window was still there. I was smiling about sharing my experience with you. I usually paint nature or abstract, so this was not what I was looking for as inspiration to my art. Inspiration though, for a post sharing my interesting Sunday morning walk with you put a smile on my face. A smile is worth sharing, and I am smiling about my own curiosity that I had to look close enough to see what it was, and then my thought OMG who might be watching me.
