I had a canvas that my friend gave to me as a present. She has painted with me in the past and knows me well. To challenge me she had bought a format that I have never painted on before. It is square 80 x 80cm and I paint on rectangular canvas mostly. It was in my living room for a couple of months before I took it out to paint on it.

My landscapes doesn't feel right for me to paint on this format. Flowers are better I think. Abstract would also work, but I have seen so many flowers lately so I was motivated to paint flowers. I bought some roses from the supermarket to inspire me. I bought yellow/orange roses, again unusual for me as I usually buy red or pink roses. I tried to not exactly the same as I have painted many times before. I felt a need to use my new paint from Daler Rowney System 3 in purple. I started on the canvas yesterday and did a first coat of white, blue and green. With a few strokes of pink just for fun.

Then went out for a rutine check at the hospital. A first for me to get a delicate body part, or two, squeezed in a machine for xrays to be taken. Then I decided to treat myself to a healing session as a self care treatment. Ah the feeling afterwards was amazing.

When I was almost home I went to the farm where I do some volunteer work, dropped of two paintings to a friend who wants to try them in her house before deciding which one to keep. Got to take some fresh vegetables home to cook, and its such a treat to eat fresh vegetables. In the evening I painted some roses with my purple paint with yellow highlights, and some daisies. It needs a bit more but it feels like it is going to be a great painting.
